Moving to a new era in health care

nytimes.com has in an article on the new Health Reform bill has this to say:
"Architects of the legislation said they wanted to move away from the fragmented fee-for-service health care system, toward one in which doctors and hospitals would coordinate care and take collective responsibility for patients, with payments based more on the quality of care and less on the volume of services."

Palin's dubuious distinction

"My parents or my baby with Down syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide whether they are worthy of healthcare," Palin wrote at the height of the debate over President Obama's proposed plans to reform the US healthcare system. 

As though the American people haven't had enough of "Big-Insurance" deciding whether the so-called insured are worthy of health-care.

The dragon tales - Part I

If the dragon's (yes, I am referring to the China) own theories are be taken to their logical conclusion, then China ought to be a part of Mongolia. But China is this self-righteous, hypocritical foul fire-breathing entity that will conveniently apply its pet theories to other nations (often with disastrous consequences for the nation at the receiving end) , but will resolutely punish any nation severely that lays claim to China itself based on the historical fact that China was once a part of another country, in this case, Mongolia.

China refuses to honour the 1940 Shimla agreement between the British and Tibetan authorities on McMohan line and on the other claims 90,000 square kilometres of territory that stretches beyond Arunachal Pradesh to the northern bank of the Brhamaputra in Assam which was once taken over by soldiers of the 33rd King of Tibet Songtsen Gompo. This is colossal greed and international rowdyism. China should note that. One can see the Chinese duplicity and dishonesty behind these unfortunate circumstances. So what does the dragon want with land that does not rightfully belong to it. Obviously it will plunder its natural resources, rape its people, stamp out their culture (in this case, Indian culture), and settle the occupied territories swiftly with the supposedly racially superior Han people from Mainland China. After all, the dragon thinks that every inch of land around it for now, belongs to it and its Han people. And nobody should question it, because it has the guns to silence any one that dares to step on its toes.

"Once Mongolian soldiers had conquered China. But on the basis of that historical fact, can China be called a part of Mongolia now?" Rinpoche asked to drive home his point.

All of us have acted in a self-righteous manner at some time or the other. But why does religion think it is infallible? Why does this maintain this self-righteous stance?

When a game of fetch goes wrong

Riley and I went on a potty walk this morning as usual. Riley is a spunky playful little guy and always finds a rock or tree branch to play or prance with. This morning he had his eye on a rock. So we started to play with a soccer/fetch game with it. After five minutes one of the retrievals took a wrong turn resulting in the disappearance of the rock and Riley giving a oh know that shouldn't of happened look.

After bringing Riley in we decided that making Riley vomit would be the best way to avoid horrible problems and large vet bills. Now the problem is how do you make a dog vomit. We found this beautiful method on ehow.com and it worked within minutes All you have to do is put 2 tsp of salt at the back of his throat and presto the rock appeared.

Jaunty Jackelope and my doggie

So I came up with this new nickname for my cute little doggie Riley. I went ahead and named him Flaunty Dogalope.
Not that this name is going to stick. But at least I tried. It seems cute though!

A comment that drew laughter

I read old, often corny stuff on rediff.com. Well, this time around, rediff wants to let us know that one of its readers was seen with Frieda Pinto. This reader has sent in his photograph with Frieda.
Nice, so far.

This is where it gets "funny". One reader has it that this picture is cute, it shows ho humble Frieda is, and he goes on to say that Frieda will attract negative publicity with this picture. His worry is that the media will go to town and set the grapevine abuzz with stories that Frieda is going around with a new boyfriend. So, it is not my intention here to start that rumor or add grist to the rumor mill.
